We recently completed our second year of a large Dodge Ball setup. Last year the Dodge Ball competition was in Orlando, FL, but this year our team traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana.
Micro Reality Racing
The first night of the event was the opening reception with Micro Reality racing, our 6 player shifter, green screen photography and custom centerpieces! Guests had the opportunity to race scale cars on our micro reality race track.

After they had their fun, guests could try their hand at our classic 6 player shifter game. The name of the game is speed! Follow the lights and shift to the right light to advance the cars to the finish line!
The Drone Zone just made an appearance at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The event was a successful trade show traffic building activation in which the client wanted to bring attention to their brand while doing something exciting! Monitor your costs and show you what you can and can’t afford.

What Do You Want Your Event To Do?
The first step before you even look at numbers is determining what you want to do. What is your goal for throwing the event? If you are planning a company picnic, then your goal might be to entertain and provide free food as a thank you. If your planning a charity gala, then your goal is to maximize your profit after expenses (if any).
How Many People Might Attend?
This is a big factor in determining your budget. You need to look and see how many people might attend your event? Is it a family event for your employees? How many of your employees are married with kids? How many of them are single? Have you done an employee event before; if so, how many people came?
How Much Money Do You Have or Will You Have?
After you figure out what your objectives are, you will need to figure out how much money will you have. If you are a single company putting on a company picnic, you might have a set budget. If you’re a charity you might look at how many people you can get to come to your gala, how much your sponsors will pay and how much food and drink sales might bring, if applicable.
What are your costs?
Look at the things that aren’t going to change. These are any costs such as DJ’s, Audio Visual, etc. After you figure that out, then you should look at your “variable costs.” These are costs such as catering, place settings and chairs, if your renting furniture.

The Blender Bikes are really pedal-powered smoothie blenders. Guests add their ingredients to the blender. Hop on the bike and pedal for approximately 15 seconds and then they’re ready to drink up!!!

Each rental comes equipped with a 48oz blender pitcher. You can rent additional pitchers for your event.
Do you guys set up and deliver the Blender Bike?
Yes, we will set up the bike and show you how to adjust the bike. If time allows, our setup staff will walk through the entire process with you making your recipe to ensure you don’t put to much ice in the Blender Bike.

How loud is the blender?
The blender is filled with ice and water. The first few seconds will always be the loudest, but it will quiet down once the ice is initially crushed.

Hot Air Balloons
The first decor idea for your next summer event can be hot air balloons. Now we understand not everyone has the location or the budget to rent a hot air balloon ride for your next event but if you do even better! The idea is to do a tethered hot air balloon ride. Your guest can ride up and take a short 5 to 10 minute ride without going that far!

Virtual Reality Cycling and Virtual Reality Rowing
We just wrapped up an event in Orlando Fl where we debuted our Brand New Virtual Reality Cycling and Rowing Machines! The core of the event was a triathlon in which participants competed in time trials in order to win points for their team. One event was a 5k with the other two events being rowing and biking.
Each of the rowers and cycles were staffed by one of our professional game attendants. The attendants helped participants into each of the machines and made sure that they were comfortable and adjusted the bikes for the ones who didn’t have any experience with rowing and cycling.
Custom Branding
We worked with the client and their event planners to custom brand each of the pieces. This also included creating custom graphics for Leader boards that were used at each of the events to give teams a sense of the top 5 times for each of the activities.
Professional Staffing
For this event we provided professional staffing for each of the games including a certified ref for the ping pong tournament. The rowing and cycling had an attendant for each bike and cycle to ensure each of the competitors could easily adjust the bikes. For those that didn’t have any experience in cycling our professional staff helped adjust each of the machines to fit their size and style of riding.

Orlando has been growing and developing now for the past few years. It is becoming not only one of the most iconic tourist destinations but one of the biggest convention towns in the country. The past 2 years has brought much change and their is still much change to come. In 2014 universal opened its Cabana Bay Beach Resort with over 1800 rooms. There are several other hotels in the area that have completed multi million dollar renovations.

Booking a DJ
Booking a DJ is tough. A DJ can really make or break your wedding. The biggest question you need to ask yourself is what type of music do you want? After you can answer that question then use that information and screen your DJ to make sure they are comfortable with that genre. Also a good question to ask when booking your DJ is whether or not they include lighting with their package. The checklist for planning your wedding
There is no easy way to start planning your event. Everyone you ask has a different timeline for what you should and shouldn’t have done for your wedding. If you have a date that isn’t that far out then obviously your checklist is a lot longer than someone who has 16 months to plan. Sixteen to Nine Months Before
Hire the photographer and the videographer.
No need to talk specifics yet, but be sure that the people you hire are open to doing the shots that you want. Photographers and videographer’s usually book about a year out.
Book the entertainment.
Attend gigs of potential acts to see how they perform in front of audiences, then reserve your favorite. It is important if your booking entertainment to make sure they fit the theme of the wedding. The wrong entertainer can turn a good night bad fast.
Meet caterers.
If your wedding venue doesn’t offer its own catering service, look for one now and hire the service this month or early next. Catering services all
Purchase a dress.
You’ll need to schedule time for at least three fittings. Veil shopping can be postponed for another two to three months.
Reserve a block of hotel rooms for out-of-town guests.
Pick three hotels at different price points close to the reception venue. C
Register.
Sign up at a minimum of three retailers. If you have a wedding website from wedding wire you can hook up your online registry so people can see where you registered and be linked directly to your file.
Launch a wedding website.
Create your personal page through a free provider such as weddingchannel.com. Note the date of the wedding, travel information, and accommodations. Then send the link to invitees.
Seven to Six Months Before
Select and purchase invitations.
Hire a calligrapher, if desired. Addressing cards is time-consuming, so you need to budget accordingly.
Start planning a honeymoon.
Make sure that your passports are up-to-date, and schedule doctors’ appointments for any shots you may need. Don’t want to get sick on the wedding day.
Shop for bridesmaids’ dresses.
Allow at least six months for the dresses to be ordered and sized.
Meet with the officiant.
Map out the ceremony and confirm that you have all the official documents for the wedding (these vary by county and religion).
Send save-the-date cards.
Reserve structural and electrical necessities.
Book portable toilets for outdoor events, extra chairs if you need them, lighting components, and so on.
Book a florist.
Florists can serve multiple clients on one day, which is why you can wait a little longer to engage one. Plus, at this point, you’ll be firm on what your wedding palette will be. When you sit down to talk with them have an open mind and ask questions. Find out what is in season and what will work with your colors. More often then not there are different ways they can create your bouquet to stay with your design and budget.
Arrange transportation.
Consider limos, minibuses, trolleys, and town cars. (But know that low-to-the-ground limos can make entries and exits dicey if you’re wearing a fitted gown.)
Start composing a day-of timeline.
Draw up a schedule of the event and slot in each component (the cake-cutting, the first dance). It’s also good to consider how long you will need to get ready. After you decide that then talk with your venue about getting the onsite bride and groom suites ( if they have them) early enough so that you don’t feel rushed.
Five to Four Months Before
Book the rehearsal and rehearsal-dinner venues.
Negotiate the cost and the menu. If you’re planning to host a day-after brunch for guests, book that place as well.
Check on the wedding invitations.
Ask the stationer for samples of the finished invitations and revise them to suit your needs. A lot of printing presses will try and send you digital samples of the artwork to save money. DON’T do it! If they need to charge you a little extra then pay it. With graphic designing and printing your artwork may not look the same printed as it did on your computer screen.
Select and order the cake.
Some bakers require a long lead time. Attend several tastings before committing to any baker.
Send your guest list to the host of your shower.
Provided you, ahem, know about the shower.
Purchase wedding shoes and start dress fittings.
Bring the shoes along to your first fitting so the tailor can choose the appropriate length for your gown.
Schedule hair and makeup artists.
Make a few appointments with local experts to try them out. Snap a photo at each so you can compare results. It’s important that you do this far enough out from your wedding so if you have a mishap you have a little bit of time to recover your beautiful hair before the big day.
Choose your music.
What should be playing when the wedding party is announced? During dinner? To kick off the dancing? Keep a running list of what you want—and do not want—played. This list will help you plan out the flow of the night. Be aware though that if you booked a professional DJ (and we mean professional) then let the DJ come up with a good playlist for you that will fit the style and mood for the event.

Building games is our passion. We love to recreate peoples favorite child hood games and make them life size for private homes, public spaces, or for corporate event rentals. The nerds at Absolute Amusements decided to build a Giant Light this go around.
How did you determine how big to build the game?
Well we first sat down and looked at an original lite-brite. We then measured the game for the length, width, and height of the game. Then our designers figured out how many holes that we wanted by counting how many holes the game had and multiplied it by our scale size for how large we wanted the board to be.
How about the pegs! How many pegs came with the light bright?
Our designers calculated how many pegs the original game had of each color and the number of holes the game had. We then took the ratio of how many pegs the original game had and divided it by how many holes our giant Lite-Brite would have.
This is just some of the process that we used to make our Giant Lite-Bright as close to the original game as we could. When you take the pegs out of the board no light shines through. This game is just beautiful. The possibilities are endless.

From the creators of PopNoggins comes the Magic Keys Giant Piano!
Everyone loves playing pianos. Whether you are good at it is another story. Take that same love for chopstix, twinkle twinkle little star, or mary had a little lamb and make it fully interactive! That’s what we did with the Magic Keys Giant Piano.
The magic keys GIANT piano was built in our Orlando Fl shop. The piano is a two octave keyboard with each key being able to be fully lit. Add to that 127 other sounds and you can have fun for hours. Watch as people just won’t be able to stop playing! We know because after we finished building it we couldn’t help but play a few of our favorite songs on this to scale giant piano.
Our designers and technicians first had to sit down and think of what it was that we wanted the piano to do. Because we have some theater nerds they decided they wanted the piece to actually sound like a real piano and not like the $80 roll out keyboards that are all too common. After we decided that we wanted the piece to be as accurate as possible we worked through how to do that. With a few midi controllers and some programing we got a fully functioning keyboard.
But what about lighting?! This was the most difficult part about building it was that we wanted the whole key to light up. Other models that you find online might only have a section of the key light up but not ours. Of course this made construction a little bit more difficult. That’s why our builders went with a multi layered acrylic design so that we could have not only the support we needed for it but so that we had a material that we could light up nicely.
At the end of the project the piano had 25 fully functioning keys with lights and sound! Plans for future models might include garage band recording with a fully synced playback/light control. Check out our youtube video of the piano in action!
Bringing the UNIVERSE inside – a constellation design using Airstar.
Human kind has always been amazed by the stars. People for years have painted murals of the universe on the inside of buildings. Many of these artworks are quite beautiful. But what happens when you want a life size artistic setup of a constellation for a corporate event. Well recently the designers at Absolute Event Experience (that’s our planning department) were approached to take a concept that was done in a room 5 times larger than the one the client was in and make it fit. The challenge was to take that setup and feel and scale it down.
First thing is first the designers had to sit down and look at the room (ceiling heights, handing points, stage design) and factor that all in. Well because the room was a lot smaller we had to figure out where we could hang from and still keep the feel of the larger than life sky that we all love. After the points were determined – on the basis of a natural orbit feel – we looked at what colors would be best to put next to each other.
We chose which planets would sit next to each other by breaking up the darker planets so that one side of the room wouldn’t be darker than the others. We also spread them out by size and varied the hanging heights by a foot to two feet until we got the look and feel we were going for. By hanging and doing the colors the way we did the room just opened up. This is just one example of how not only Airstar Products can be used inside for event lighting but also how lighting is a key part of creating an immersive experience for your event.
Absolute Amusements just got done doing a game show mania event in Las Vegas. Four rooms of game shows! Working in conjunction with the AV department the staff at Absolute Amusements helped execute a perfect run. Three of the rooms had 4 podiums with one room being an 6 podium show.

A recent study has come out showing that events in 2015 will become all about the immersive experience. The event will need to be more “personal,pervasive, touchable, overwhelming and unforgettable by using technology to drench all the participants in an immersive experience” according to the event industry trends report. The overwhelming theme though in the report was that attendees want to be engaged. This means that sponsors have to change how they interact with the attendees. With the holidays right around the corner office managers and HR staff everywhere are preparing for the annual christmas parties. Some companies do them small and some companies go all out to celebrate this time of year and their employees hard work. Below you will find a few good ideas that are perfect for your annual company celebration.
1.) The Masquerade Ball
The Masquerade ball is a timeless classic for any company party. Encourage guest to go and buy their own masks so that they can coordinate with their dates. Your food menu should be light appetizers and finger food. You should also consider having a few server staff to walk around with the food adding to the grandeur of the event. It is important to have the right drink selection as well. Guest should be welcomed with complimentary champagne as they enter into the ball. If you are doing a cash bar inside to keep the cost of your event down this makes people feel a little bit better about approaching the bars. For entertainment you should consider a live band. The band or orchestra should start off with some cocktail music and gradually lead up into some classic dance music that fits your theme.
2.) Murder Mystery
A Murder-Mystery Dinner show is a unique and engaging idea for any company. Guest can dress in normal cocktail attire. As diners much away a sudden death breaks out. A detective arrives to determine who the killer is. This experience allows guest to be more than wined and dined it allows them to be engaged and work as a team with the people at their table.

We have taken this classic carnival game rental to the next level by adding 4 more players, as well as custom branding. The gameplay is very simple: on your mark, get set, go! Each of the players point their water cannons at the tiny target in front of them. When the target is hit, the player’s icon screams toward the top! First one to the top is the winner! This trade show booth promotion is always a big winner. This game is available in both our Orlando and Las Vegas warehouses.
Everyone has experienced it at least once in life. You know what were talking about. You go to a reception, wedding, or party with a DJ and the night is going well until the DJ starts throwing in songs that don’t match the energy and tempo of the crowed. It turns an awesome evening into one that everyone will remember – for the wrong reasons.
When you are booking a DJ for an event or party there are a few things that you need to ask your DJ before booking them.
1.) Do they have experience with your type of event.
Not every DJ can do every type of event. When you find DJ’s who claim to be able to do weddings, corporate events, and regular parties you might want to stay away. However, there are a few DJS who can do all types of events and can be quite good at all three. But for the majority of DJ’s they favor one type of event over another. Make sure the DJ your looking at has real experience doing your type of event.
2.) What type of music do they listen to.
Some people may think this is a silly question to ask a DJ. But the type of music they listen to can give you a hint on their mixing style. Most DJ’s will tell you they listen to everything but all of them have some type of preference of music. Now there is nothing that says DJ’s who listen to hip hop music are better at regular parties and Dj’s who listen to rock music are better at corporate parties. The beauty of music is that no one music style fits everyone. That’s why there are Djs.
3.) What type of lighting and sound system do they have.
Nothing ruins a party more than when the music isn’t loud enough or there isn’t enough bass in the speakers. Depending on the venue you are in the Dj should have a system that can accommodate the amount of people you have and the size of your room. The other piece of equipment that can make or break your event is the lighting for the dance floor. Lighting sets the mood for the whole night. If the DJ you are booking doesn’t have lighting equipment in their package then you should consider getting it elsewhere or finding another DJ. A good lighting package will use a few led lights and what is called “intelligent” lighting. These are the lights that change colors and move in all kinds of directions.

At the Kids of Courage’s Orlando event, Absolute Amusements was contacted to help out with a fashion show that they were producing. Absolute Amusements provided some Airstar Cones and an Airstar Arch to help decorate their set for the fashion show. We also provided some front lighting to light the runway. We were proud to play a small part in this event.
Kids of Courage is an organization that was founded in 2008 and is “committed to change the way people look at illness, and open up a world of support, hope and opportunity for every sick child and family, no matter how serious the diagnosis is.”

How can I engage my clients, build traffic to my trade show booth, and get a return on my investment?
We get this question all the time. The answer is simple, it comes in the form of a “traffic builders“. What is a traffic builder you ask? Well a traffic builder is something that causes people to stop at your booth and want to learn about your product.
Experts will argue all day on how this is best accomplished. Some experts will say to build booths that are beautiful and big and use graphics that will attract attention. The traditional way to do this is pictured at left. This type of booth does attract attention and stands out against the rows of other booths. However, it is still missing something.
With the traditional method like the one pictured on left, you might get some traffic and people check out your product and get information but once they leave your booth you loose their engagement. Those pens or water bottles get lost in the hundreds of other free items they have that often get stuffed into a drawer. So how do you engage them in a way that will make them remember you when they go home?
The answer lies in interactive attractions that have your branding or message incorporated into them. An example is pictured at right with a custom ring toss. It gives people the opportunity to be engaged while promoting your brand or message. They can take pictures of themselves playing the game and post it to social media. Besides, people remember the things that bring them joy.
